Welcome back! I hope that everybody had a wonderful Easter Weekend.
Homework and new word wall words will be posted shortly for the week :)
This week we will be starting a new topic in math: measuring length, area, and perimeter. Students will be writing a short test on Friday to finish off both our units on 3D geometry and on Adding and Subtracting double digit numbers using regrouping and non regrouping questions. For our 3D geometry students will need to identify some simple 3D shapes (cone, cylinder, sphere, cube, pyramid, rectangular prism) and know how to count vertices, edges, and faces. We will be reviewing these concepts in class as well, and our weekly homework will also give students a chance to review.
This week is our LAST week with our CYC students, Miss. Dawson and Miss. K. We will definitely miss their help in our class!
Our class had some exciting events happen last Thursday that I wanted to share with you. First, we had two winners this month at the "Caught You Caring" assembly! Congratulations to Dahlia and Sinachi for having their names drawn this month... both wins were very well deserving! I was happy to know that many of my students had a good chance of having their names pulled this month with all of the caring I have been noticing lately; keep up the great work!
At the same assembly we also got a chance to witness the "pie in the face" fundraiser that our school was holding to raise money for our Lenten project. Students were challenged to raise $500 in one week and earned raffle tickets with their donations to have a chance at putting a pie in the face of either Mr. Wayne, Mme. Parent, or Mrs. Harrington. Not only did our school beat the challenge, but we had a student from our class have her name drawn to throw a pie! Congratulations to Alexa, it was fun to watch!
Looking forward to a wonderful week with everybody.
Mrs. Miller
