Stack, slide, and roll?

Yesterday our class did a hands-on activity to explore the properties of some 3D shapes. Students were given a list of six 3d solid figures and predicted which shapes would roll down a ramp, which shapes would slide down the ramp, and which shapes could have other items stacked on top of them. After we discussed their prediction, students were able to test them out in groups using the 3d solid shapes. They did a great job with their experiment, and were able to discuss afterwards what each 3D shape must have in order to roll (a curved surface), slide (a flat surface), and stack (at least two flat surfaces).
